Who is Josh Kim?

Well here’s what I know: He works for Dartmouth Curricular Computing as an Instructional Technologist. And clearly part of that job description is to be an awe-inspiring one-man blogging tornado. Clearly we will need to organize an Dartmouth Computing blog-off to test each other’s true mettle. Hint: he will win.

Dartmouth Wireless Changes

Some of you may have missed the tempest-in-a-teapot-type fanfare, but Kiewit has rolled out a significant change to wireless networking throughout campus.

Previously there existed but one wireless network to serve all of campus: Kiewit Wireless. This was an open network, and embraced any and all comers within it’s inclusive (and figurative) arms. Practically, this meant that connecting over wi-fi was a breeze: just open your lid, discover Kiewit Wireless, connect, and that’s all she wrote.

But time ravages all good things, and Kiewit Wireless was not [snip...]

How to Find Out if the Internet is Broken

Well, ok. Chances are the whole internet isn’t really going to break, unless another fire breaks out underneath a Boston subway station.

But, much as we try to avoid it, sometimes a small piece of our own corner of the internet here at Dartmouth goes down. And, naturally, when that happens you call us, wondering why you haven’t received any email in the past half hour. Or how come you aren’t able to open your hosted database.
